Vakker Stikk

This is a knitting book by the Norwegian designer Sidsel J Hoivik, Vakker Strikk. It is very beautifully photographed and it is available from her website.  http://www.sidselhoivik.no

New project: Stray by Andi Satterlund.

Stray is the new project that I am working on.  It is a pattern by Andi Satterlund.  Her website is
http://untangling-knots.com, She is also on Ravely, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
In the pattern, she used Jo Sharp Classic DK wool. I went to John Lewis and used their Merino DK, which is 100% superwash wool.  Grey, maroon and black.   Started on 4th March and working on Stray on and off. As it is a smallish project, it will not take up too much time as with a bigger work in progress.

Update for polka cardigan

I have been working steadily on the Polka-dot cardigan from Simply Knitting 2012. A Rosee Woodland pattern, I have slightly changed it, that there are different coloured spots and I have made it a lot longer, I am using steeks for the front and the armholes.

Leopard Print cardigan right side

I really like this pattern. Even though, I am using a different technique know as intarsia. It is going fine.  I am hoping to finish it quite soon. As I am looking forward to wearing the cardigan.

Crochet Drops 136-24 Florette

I started working on the Drops Pattern  136-24 Florette.  It is a free pattern available on the Drops website.  http://www.garnstudio.com/pattern.php?id=5483&cid=19.  The yarn, I am using is Drops Cotton viscose in colour 08, Pink.   A little bit about the yarn.  Cotton viscose is a very pretty yarn to look at. It is shiny, feels lovely and smooth, made up of  54% cotton and 46%, it is 5ply/sport weight. The only problem is that sometimes when you are crocheting, your crochet needle can snag the yarn, because it is made up of multiple strands and double spun. Not sure if I would use the yarn again. Other alternatives, would be Drops Safran, 100% or other cottton yarn.

Leopard print cardigan

After my hiatus from the Leopard print, I realised that when I was doing the left side, the back was not very neat, so I started on the right side. Also I have been weaving in the ends at a more regular basis. Plus I changed the side from medium to large and I am very pleased with my progress so far. Knitting the pattern on circular needles really does help.

Abuelita

I took a hiatus from both cardigans and I worked on the Aubelita pattern by Meghan Fernades.  It is available in Pom Pom Quarterly Issue 2, Autumn 2012.  The pattern recommended Lace weight, 2 ply.  I used "I knit or Dye Ziggy Stardust, colour Anna, available from "I knit London".I only had 1 skein and I used 2 skeins of Debbie Bliss, Luxury sock yarn, coachella (1).  The pattern was worked from the top down to the bottom, You worked the neck line, then the bodice.  As I was making this pattern for my daughter, Ayodele, I decided to make it longer to the hips.  I would definitely make this again, however I would use 1 colour for the whole of the neck line and the whole of the bodice and use edging of a different colour for the armhole and the bottom of the bodice.

Update: Anja hat

I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  I have not updated since April last year, when I was started to work on the polka dot and the Leopard print cardigans.  In December 2016, I started to work and finished the Anja hat, by Carrie Bostick Hoge, which is from the online magazine Knitty First Fall 2012, the pattern is free, available at http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEff12/PATTanja.php

I used Debbie Bliss, Cashmerino DK for the cream, and the rest of the colours, baby blue, wine, purple and dark blue, I used Rowan Baby merino silk DK.  I made my hat more slouchy, so I added more rows in the crown, I also added a corrugated rib.
